The annual Food For Thought Festival of Events will celebrate its fifth year in 2020 with the theme - Courageous Leadership enabling System Change Environments.
Events will run from 19th - 23rd March in the Great Southern region of Western Australia and will culminate with the community festival on Saturday in Albany.
We respectfully acknowledge that the Festival will take place on the lands of the Noongar people, who have a deep and lasting connection to country and who have been caring for this land sustainably for many millennia.
By celebrating and showcasing local food in a fun and educational way, the Food For
Thought Festival promotes sustainable, healthy, vibrant and democratic food systems in the Great Southern and supports the development and strengthening of fair food networks across Australia and internationally. Fair food systems being those that support prospering rural and ecological communities.
Food for Thought galvanises the local communities’ vision for a sustainable and resilient food system throughout the Great Southern, which supports local food producers, improves market opportunities (availability and accessibility) of regeneratively produced produce, promotes ecological functions and regional food security.
The Food for Thought Festival taps into a wider, multi-disciplinary movement that includes health sciences, environmental sciences, regenerative and urban agriculture, economics, social and mental wellbeing and community engagement.
